WelchMedia is the online home and portfolio of freelance web designer, Jim Welch

Jim WelchHi, I’m Jim, a freelance web designer based in Springfield, MO. I build websites for individuals, small businesses and organizations.

I design and develop sites that help individuals and organizations look their best, are search engine-friendly, and are easy to maintain. I specialize in the integration of a content management system, or CMS, to empower website owners with an easy-to-use tool for managing their own website.

Furthermore…during the day, I’m the Coordinator of Web and Emerging Technology for the Office of Admissions at Missouri State University. My job is to promote the university and recruit students using web technologies. I spend lots of time developing and maintaining web pages, creating HTML email campaigns, designing promotional graphics, producing online videos, and attempting to engage students through social media.

When I’m not in front of a computer monitor, I enjoy spending time with my awesome wife, playing with my Yellow Lab, Jack, taking photos, enjoying great-tasting food, and learning new technologies.

Professional Services

Website Design

I provide award-winning website design that aims to communicate, not just decorate. My goal is to create a look and feel for your website that is true to your image and clearly professional.

Website Development

I use the best of modern web standards and clean code to develop pages that display consistently across different web browsers, are search engine friendly and accessible to all.

CMS Integration

I can integrate a CMS, or “Content Management System” into your website. A CMS provides a way for non-technical users to easily edit, update, and manage their own website content.

Logo Design

Do you need a logo designed to go with your new website? Is your current logo and branding outdated? I can design a logo that represents you or your business in a fresh and professional manner.

My Process

1. Discovery →

Discovery
It all begins with a little research — discovering what you need in a website, what your visitors expect from your website, and what your competitors are doing online. The more we discover in the beginning, the better we can plan for a successful online presence.

2. Design →

Web Design
Visual design of your site starts with sketches and wireframes that enable quick experimentation with layout options. Once page elements are organized visually, I develop a “look and feel” by adding color, texture, images, and other elements.

3. Development →

Web Development
Now it’s time to turn your visual design into working web pages, developed with semantic code that follows modern web standards. Effort is made to develop your pages to be optimized for search engines and to work well in all modern web browsers.

4. Delivery →

Deliver website
After your site has been developed and tested, it’s time to go live! I can provide analytics to show how your pages are performing and further tweak your site to meet your goals. I’m available to help you grow your site and answer any questions.
